Songs Cut

“Masterpiece.” has two versions, one of which is the Gospel version which was released by Troy Ervin and is on Spotify. If you change the word “he” to “she” in the lyric, along with one or two other tweaks, the song is about a relationship.

“Tobacco Wars” was released as an audio book soundtrack. This bluegrass ballad tells a tragic story, and is based on Laura Derr’s book “Nick and Viola: A Kentucky Family Tragedy in the Tobacco Wars (1904-1911).”

“Stars and Crosses” released May 26 2023. A tribute for Memorial Day.

Film Score

“Bloodsucker’s Planet” is a retro, sci-fi, vampire film with romantic and understated comedy elements. Filmmaker Mark Beal invited me to score this film with a 60s vibe. Jazz singer Kelsey Tayler nails the opening song, and the more mellow Amanda Keffer from Roanoke, VA delivers the exact “break up” song vibe at the end of the film. Special note: “Adrianna,” the heroine, does a wild dance in the film, and because the film had already been shot when I arrived on the scene, I had to compose the music to her moves; I had fun with that one

Musical Theatre

“Finding” is a musical by Chip Hill (he wrote both the music and the book) which tells the story of a group of teenagers facing the realities of life. He asked me to recording backing tracks for the numbers, so that the production would have both an example of how it should sound, as wells as tracks without vocals that actors could sing along with, giving the producer the option to use either live musicians or the backing tracks.

“Paris” is a musical being written by myself (score) and Claudia Fain (book), and is a romantic comedy based on two songs written by Robb Boyd and I entitled “Paris” and “Distance.” We are tailoring this work as a cost effective option with a positive message for community theater and high school drama departments.
