Brazos Valley Jazz Society

COLLEGE STATION, TX, October 24, 2019—The Brazos Valley Jazz Society, working with the Grand Stafford Theater, are bringing to Bryan/College Station two of the hottest musical artists on the L.A. scene, Kait Dunton and Grammy winning guitarist Andrew Synowiec for a jam packed evening on November 8.

Los Angeles based composer and pianist, Kait Dunton, was the original pianist of the Grammy award winning jam band Snarky Puppy.  Her unique and unconventional approach to composition and style is best expressed by her genre pushing “supergroup” trioKait, featuring Jake Reed on drums and College Station native Cooper Appelt on bass.   Six years and three albums in, trioKAIT has developed a dynamic group sound and acquired many accolades along the way, including 4.5 stars in Downbeat and top spots on the JazzWeek charts for each album.

Also on the bill for November 8 is Andrew Synowiec.  You may not know him by name, but chances are you’ve heard his guitar playing.  Synowiec has played on thousands of recording sessions, working for artists such as Michael Bublé, Barbara Streisand and Seal as well as film and television soundtracks like The Simpsons, Coco and Frozen (including the infectious song “Let It Go”).  His just released first full length album, Second Story, an instrumental mixture of Rock, Jazz and Blues, is receiving high praise and wide-ranging air play nationwide.

The Brazos Valley Jazz Society (BVJS) is a newly formed local non-profit organization dedicated to promoting jazz and improvisational based music through outreach, performance and education. The board includes members of the local music community as well as prominent faculty from Texas A & M University. One of the goals of the BVJS is to bring world class jazz artists to the B/CS area.
